Refund & Cancellation Policy
This page exists to prevent a very common misunderstanding. EuroHostelTraveler takes no payments for travel, so there is nothing for us to refund. Below we explain what we do charge for, what we do not, and how to pursue a refund with the party that actually holds your money.

We do not sell travel
EuroHostelTraveler LLC sells no flights, no hostel beds, no tours, no insurance and no booking services. We never collect card details and we operate no checkout. If you paid for a flight or a bed, the money went to an airline, an online travel agency or a property, and only that party can refund it.

How airline refunds normally work
Refund eligibility follows the fare rule attached to your ticket, not the airline's marketing.
- Check who issued the ticket. If you booked through an agency such as an online travel platform, the airline will usually send you back to that agency, because the agency holds the funds.
- Identify why the ticket is unused. An airline cancellation or a large schedule change usually gives you a refund right. A voluntary change on a non refundable fare usually gives you residual value or a credit instead.
- Use the 24 hour window where it exists. For tickets bought in the United States at least seven days before departure, US Department of Transportation rules generally allow a free cancellation within 24 hours of purchase.
- Request in writing. Ask for a refund of the unused portion and quote your booking reference and ticket number. Keep every reply.
- Escalate if it stalls. Airline refunds commonly take 7 to 20 business days. Beyond that, escalate to the airline's complaints team, then to the relevant national enforcement body, then to your card issuer.
Taxes and unused tickets
Even on a strictly non refundable fare, government taxes and some airport charges are often refundable when you do not fly, though airlines may deduct an administration fee. It is worth asking for them specifically, because they are rarely offered automatically.
How hostel cancellations normally work
Hostel rates come in two shapes. A flexible rate is usually free to cancel until 24 to 48 hours before check in, and a non refundable rate is charged in full the moment you book. The rate line in your confirmation, not the property's general policy page, is what governs your booking.
If you cancel late for a genuine reason, write directly to the hostel rather than to the platform. Independent properties in places like Ljubljana or Chiang Mai frequently move a booking to a later date even when the rate says they do not have to.
Chargebacks
A chargeback is a real option when a provider takes payment and does not deliver, but use it after you have given the provider a fair chance to respond. Your card issuer will want the booking confirmation, your written refund request and the dates of every reply.
