How this started

In 2016 two of us tried to plan a five week trip from Lisbon to Krakow on a hostel budget and found that almost nothing written online was reliable. Hostel pages read like brochures, airline pages hid the rules that mattered, and blog posts recycled prices from years earlier. So we started writing the version we wanted to read: named properties, real neighbourhoods, current prices, plain fare rules.

How we work

A hostel enters a collection when one of our writers has stayed there, or when we can verify the details with the property and cross check a long run of consistent guest reports. Air travel guidance is written against published carrier conditions and, where they differ, we say which airline we are describing. Every article carries an author and the date it was last checked.

What we do not do

• We do not sell flights, tickets or hostel beds, and we never hold your money.
• We do not accept payment for a listing or a ranking position.
• We do not publish a claim about a place we cannot name.
• We cannot access, change or refund your booking. Only the airline, the hostel or the agent that took payment can do that.

If you find something out of date, tell us. Corrections are published with a date on the article itself.
