Another case of 'arriving at hostel and charged more than rate quoted online' - We booked in June 08, the rate quoted was RUB390, but we were told on arrival that they had changed there rates December 07 (!!) and now we had to pay RUB450 and would not honor - needless to say we probly would not have booked this hostel in June..

Aside from this - the staff were really nice, and friendly. Registered our visa for free.
The Hostel was in a great location which was the only good thing about the building in general. The mattresses were the thinest I have ever seen. The shower (x2) really moldy, with no ventilation. Other than that - the hostel was clean.

Take your misquito repellent - lots of them!

The building is a remodeled communalka, an interesting Russian phenomenon one can get a tiny sense of by staying here. Should be even better after the kitchen is complete. Also, the sweetest and most helpful staff. This is also not a typical youth hostel, people of all ages stay here, which is quite refreshing.
